Men's Mental Health and Wellbeing
Negative emotions and feelings can bottle up, start to affect your everyday life and can eventually erupt like a volcano.
This is not a healthy way of dealing with your feelings or situation. There are many ways to deal with these that are better and more productive and will be discussed below.
Try to be vocal about your mental health worries and struggles. If something is bothering you or has been for a long time, try to speak to someone you know or a professional who can discuss your concerns with you and help you.
Stay Connected: Taking time to stay in touch with friends and family can help, either connecting online or face to face. Isolation and loneliness can feed into negative feelings and stops you from communicating your struggles. Talk to as many people as you can and spend time with friends, we are meant to be sociable.
Stay Active: Keeping active will improve both your physical and mental health. Health is improved with fitness and regular exercise, but with exercise, your brain also produces Dopamine and Endorphins which will make you feel better.
Pick up a hobby: Finding a new hobby or joining a club will help take up free and spare time, you can learn new skills, meet new people, make new friends and find new things to enjoy.
Take some downtime: Life can be stressful, It is good to take a break from tasks and work every so often. Take short breaks and find something to help you relax like listening to music, talking to friends or watching TV.
Give to the community: Offer to volunteer, Work in an animal rescue centre, help out at events, donate to charity. Helping out can feel rewarding within itself, and we all need a little help once in a while.
