SystemOnline (Online Services)

You may have noticed that the SystemOnline (Online Services) platform has changed recently (see below). Please be reassured that this is simply cosmetic and the system is fully functioning and works exactly the same as it did prior to the changes.

Statement Regarding Patient Partner at Gayton Road and Carole Brown Health Centre

Please note that our Automated Appointment Line (Patient Partner) was disconnected during the Cyber Attack back in May. This service is still disconnected and as such you will be unable to book appointments through this method.

This will still appear as an option when calling the practice however this will not connect you.

Alternative ways to book are as follows;

By Telephone OR  Online through System One Online Services (please speak to a receptionist about registering for Online Services)

"Pharmacy 2U"

We are aware that many patients have received material through the post from 'Pharmacy 2U' inviting them to switch to their online prescription service and use the other services offered on their website, instead of obtaining their prescription medication from their local pharmacist. Please be aware that your information has not been provided by the practice, nor has the content of the material been approved by the practice. Concerns relating to this service should be raised with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Official Vida Healthcare Statement regarding the National Cyber Attack on Friday 12th May 2017

During the past few days, from media coverage, you will have been made aware of a global cyber-attack that has affected some NHS organisations.

Vida would like to reassure all patients that patient information is safe.

We have, as a precaution, temporarily turned off Patient Partner, which means that currently telephone appointment booking is not available.

This morning all other systems across Vida sites are functioning fully and staff are continuing  to work as normal.

Your Information and Enhanced Data Sharing

You may be aware of some media reporting of increasing concerns about access to patient records under an enhanced data sharing model available within TPP SystmOne. Under the enhanced data sharing model (EDSM) clinicians, and services, involved in your care, can, with your consent access your medical record if they use the same SystmOne clinical system. Rights to access your information are based on their working role and having a valid smart card. Access is auditable.

Friends and Family Tests

Don't forget to fill out our Friends and Family test survey! This survey will allow us to improve our different practices and you can find it on the different practice's pages.

Can't attend your Appointment?

Please let the surgery know If you cannot attend your appointment. Un-used appointments waste on average 1 ½ Dr surgeries a day.

About Vida Healthcare

A Bit about Us

Vida Healthcare is a traditional GP Partnership established for over 60 years in Kings Lynn. Instead of being ‘Dr X and Partners’  we call ourselves by the more modern name of Vida Healthcare (Vida being Spanish for ‘Life’).  We are the largest GP practice in Norfolk with a responsibility for caring for over 36,000 patients. We have three Health Centres in Kings Lynn (22000 patients) one in Downham Market (3600 patients) one at Hunstanton (4700 patients) and another at Dersingham (6000 patients).  We are the only practice in Norfolk to hold the Quality practice Award accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners. Since 1995 we have held accreditation as Investors in People.

We have a team of 22 doctors, about 35 nurses and about 85 support staff. Some of our nurses have prescribing rights and they provide acute and chronic care.  Several of them are very specialized and they run the chronic care clinics. Other nurses provide a treatment room service and healthcare assistants offer NHS health checks, Spirometry, ECGs, Smoking Cessation, Hypertension, phlebotomy and other tests.   We have a dispensary at our Dersingham surgery.

We are very conscious of our responsibility as a large primary care provider to support the involvement of general practice in the development of GP’s and realise that the new approach being pioneered by universities such as the U.E.A. is crucial to the survival of general practice in the U.K. We have been approved as a training practice by the U.E.A for medical students and a group of about 12 undergraduate students have been coming here for training once a week from September 2003. We also train GP registrars and if your GP is one of our trainers they may ask you to see their registrar.  A new education centre was built at the Gayton Road site at the end of 2007 and the new Dersingham surgery has a very large training facility.

We are keen to involve patients in the development of services and have an active patient participation group (PPG) at each surgery.  We welcome any comments from our patients, good or bad, and you can send these to us via the Contact Us Tab at the top of the website

We are part of Norfolk Surgical and Diagnostic Centres (NSDC) which is a group of three practices in Kings Lynn and one in Norwich.   At Gayton Road, we undertake cystoscopy in partnership with the main acute hospital and also small incision cataract surgery.   The other practices in NSDC provide general surgery including hernia repair, orthopaedic surgery, gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy.

We own a separate occupational health company (C&L Ltd) with offices in King’s Lynn and Norwich, as well as a specialist private skin and laser clinic providing a wide range of cosmetic treatments – Dermavida – which is based at Gayton Road.  C&L also owns and manages the Gables Nursing Home in Dersingham, recently the home attained an overall 'good' rating from the Care Quality Commission.
